VEET Scheme

The Victorian Energy Upgrades Scheme, previously called the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target (VEET) Scheme, is a program initiated by the Victorian Government and also referred to as the Energy Saver Incentive. The VEET Scheme was created under the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Act 2007 and is regulated by the Essential Services Commission (ESC), following the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Regulations 2008.   The primary goal of the VEU Scheme is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by promoting the efficient use of electricity and gas through making energy efficiency upgrades more accessible and affordable. The scheme also encourages investment, employment, and technology development in the energy efficiency goods and services industry. Although not a rebate program, the VEU Scheme has the potential to save you money, whether you are a homeowner or business owner. Details are available at the following pages - www.victorianenergysaver.vic.gov.au www.energy.vic.gov.au www.veet.vic.gov.au/Public/Public.aspx?id=Home www.veet.vic.gov.au/Public/APRegister.aspx?id=169 www.esc.vic.gov.au

Through the VEET scheme, you have the chance to upgrade specific products and appliances at a reduced cost. By adopting more energy-efficient products, you can reduce your energy consumption, which may translate into lower energy bills.

There are no hidden fees or charges, and you are not obligated to select any particular product(s) from our range, whether it's one or all of them. We operate strictly within the VEU guidelines and uphold the highest standards of service. Our team consist of professional and efficient personnel, and we only use A-Grade electricians.

Our products are of high quality and have undergone rigorous testing. Furthermore, all light globes and LED downlights that we install come with a manufacturer's warranty.

• VIC Government scheme regulated to 2030 (The VEU Act).
• VIC Government Essential Services Commission (ESC)
• VIC Department of Environment, Land, and Water Planning (DELWP)

At Ecosavers, we take pride in maintaining a team that is friendly, polite, efficient, and professional. Our field team is made up of a group of experienced installers and electricians.

Before installation, we will discuss any equipment required for the job, such as lifts, additional electrical equipment, or light add-ons.

As an Accredited Participant of the scheme since 2012, Ecosavers is authorized to issue Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates to aid energy consumers in making energy-efficient improvements to their homes, business premises, or other non-residential buildings. Revenue generated from the sale of VEECs allows us to provide energy consumers with special benefits that may help reduce the cost of implementing these energy efficiency upgrades. Our goal is to help you save money and reduce your carbon footprint by installing free energy-efficient and water-saving products in your home or business, in accordance with the VEET Scheme.

Under the scheme, energy retailers are mandated to purchase VEECs, and failure to do so will result in penalties. The costs of certificates are then recuperated from consumers through charges on their electricity bills.

The Energy Saver Incentive, which is the public name for the scheme, was launched on January 1st, 2009, and is designed to operate in three-year phases until January 1st, 2030.

Accredited businesses can create certificates when they assist in making energy efficiency improvements to your premises under the VEET scheme. These certificates, known as Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs), represent one tonne of greenhouse gas abated, and the revenue generated from their sale can be used towards a discount on the installed product or appliance. Large energy retailers are required to purchase a specified number of VEECs each year to meet their obligations under the scheme and then surrender those certificates to the ESC. The energy retailers may pass on some or all of the cost of fulfilling this obligation to consumers.

Participation in the VEET scheme is entirely voluntary, and there is no obligation for consumers to take part.

It's worth noting that the VEET scheme is not a rebate scheme, and the discount offered through the scheme is not a fixed amount or provided by the government. The discount is a result of the revenue generated by the sale of Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) by accredited businesses.

By upgrading to energy-efficient lighting through the VEET scheme, you can start seeing savings from the moment the first light is upgraded. As energy-efficient lights use less electricity than traditional style lights, your electricity bills should be lower, starting with your first billing cycle after the upgrade. Additionally, traditional lights produce more heat, causing your air conditioning to work harder to cool your space. With energy-efficient lights generating less heat, your air conditioning unit can operate more efficiently, leading to potential energy savings in the summer months as well.

To add to your answer, there are also specific product requirements and minimum energy performance standards that must be met for each type of product to be eligible under the VEET Scheme. These requirements are set out in the Victorian Energy Upgrades Product Register, which is maintained by the Essential Services Commission. The products listed in the register meet minimum standards of energy efficiency and water efficiency, and have been tested and verified as compliant with VEET requirements. It's important to check the register to ensure that the products you are considering for installation are eligible for the scheme.
